The Disappearance of Angela Gilbert
41 year old Angela Gilbert was last seen in Granite Falls, Washington on June 2, 2011. She disappeared after taking a walk with a male friend near her residence.
Background
Angela Gilbert was born on June 3, 1969 and left behind six children. Her loved ones say it’s uncharacteristic of her to be out of contact with her children.
In February 2011, Angela was taken to jail for a burglary charge. On May 20, 2011, she was given a four hour release from jail, but never returned. At the time of her disappearance she was wanted for felony escape.
Disappearance
Between 10:00-11:00 am on June 2, 2011, Angela Gilbert was last seen on private land near the 21400 block of 119th Street northeast in Granite Falls, Washington.
After leaving her residence that morning she went on a walk with a male acquaintance, 23 year old Colton Lee White. Angela hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
White returned alone some time later, and reportedly told others Angela decided to keep walking by herself.
Angela’s mother reported her missing to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office on June 5, 2011.
Investigation
Police never had a chance to ask Colton Lee White about Angela’s disappearance, since he was reported missing a few days after she vanished.
A shoe that is believed to belong to Angela was found near the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River close to the fish ladders, but no further clues as to her whereabouts have been found.
On July 24, 2011, Colton Lee White’s body was found in the Stillaguamish River near the 14600 block of Jordan Road. Authorities estimate it had been there for a few weeks.
White died from probable fresh-water drowning, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. The manner of death — accident, homicide, or accident — has not been determined.
lt is unknown if White’s case is related to Angela’s.
At the time of his disappearance, White had a warrant out for failing to appear at a June 16 hearing in Cascade District Court in Arlington. He was charged with reckless burning and had a fourth-degree assault charge pending.
Appearance
White female born on June 3, 1969. Angela has blonde hair, brown eyes, stands 5’2 tall, and weighs 120-130 pounds.
She has a hysterectomy scar, and the last photo of Gilbert shows her hair to be more red than blonde.
Clothing & Accessories:
Angela was last seen wearing a white puffy down jacket, blue jeans, a pink or black hat, and black sneakers with pink laces or possibly barefoot.
