The Disappearance of Samantha Chun

17 year old Samantha Chun was last seen in Pupukea, Hawaii on January 17, 2025. She disappeared after going out to Ke Iki Beach with her boyfriend.
Disappearance
At 9:54 pm on January 17, 2025, Samantha Chun and her boyfriend, 18 year old Joseph Fujioka, were seen at the Aloha Gas Station on Kippapa Drive.
The pair then traveled to Ke Iki Beach near Shark’s Cove for a night out. They arrived around 10:30 pm, and haven’t been seen or heard from since.
The following morning, family members traveled to the beach and found their personal belongings. Fujioka’s mother reported them missing to the Honolulu Police Department at 10:45 am.
Investigation
Fujioka’s car, a 2012 silver Toyota Carolla, was recovered and processed at the scene.
On January 18, 2025, an extensive search of the area was conducted, and remains were found about 200 yards offshore. The remains were later identified as Joseph Fujioka. Samantha has never been found.
Ocean Safety Lt. Jesse King said the water conditions on the night they disappeared were large and dangerous, with waves ranging from 30 to 40 feet.
Based on the location of Fujioka’s phone, his family determined that the phone ran out of battery power at 11:06 pm, with the last recorded location at the beach.
“We have video footage from her phone that night showing the two of them having fun, looking at the stars, looking at the moon,” Chun’s mother, Kiyomi Chun, told Hawaii News Now. “That’s the last thing on her phone, so we knew at that point that they were, they were happy. They were enjoying themselves.”
Appearance
Hawaiian/Pacific Islander female with brown hair and brown eyes. Samantha stands 5’3 tall and weighs 125 pounds.
